Opt Out/Opt In
HEY GANG uh so. This is very necessary this time because not only is Saya from an eroge, she’s from THE infamous dark eldritch horror eroge. In particular it involves a lot of body horror, gore (like, even more so than usual on account of meat vision) and cannibalism - Saya is not obligated to eat humans specifically but she does do so, including eating a baby.
Being an eroge there are also sex scenes and sexual themes. To be specific, there’s a lot of scientific talk about Saya’s species being built for reproduction and she was also sexually active with her boyfriend. This combined with Saya’s humanoid appearance looking underage can be uncomfortable. My time with the text leads me to believe she is intended to look 15-ish, but the artwork can make her look even younger than that. Regardless it can be uncomfortable even if you know that she is actually some kind of monster.
There is also sexual assault and sex slavery in the visual novel. I have specifically taken her from a canon point before the latter so I do not have to engage with it at all (as I personally hate that part of the VN and actually think it ruins the story lmao) but even at this canonpoint, Saya herself has been a victim of rape. I have a lot of qualms with this specific scene, but there is still a small chance it could come up. That said, because of my own issues with it and sensitivities this specific thing is opt in only with people I trust.
As per usual I will use warnings extensively as necessary but please feel free to use this post to opt out of anything here that would make you uncomfortable - or even out of interaction with Saya in general, I know Saya no Uta is a visual novel with one hell of a controversial reputation. Like always you can also use this post to opt in as well.
